Where can I find a User guide for the Terason application?
The user guide is installed with the Terason application.  A shortcut to the user guide should be located on the windows desktop.  If it is not there select START > SETTINGS > TERASON USER GUIDE.

Where did my control windows go in the Terason application (Image Control Bar, Terason Explorer, etc.)?
These menus are movable and removable.  If they are missing please use the “View” pull down menu to bring them back up.  If a window has moved and you do not know how to move it back, please call Terason for further instructions.

*To restore all the windows to their default position please select the TOOLS menu (Alt-T) then select the option “Restore Default Window Layout”.

How do I backup my images to a CD or DVD?
Please refer to the step-by-step directions located in the Terason User Guide.

Where are the patient files located on my computer?
The patient folders can be found in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Teratech\Terason 2000\Patient

What type of CD or DVD media should I use?
Please use CD-R media.  CD-RW media is not very reliable.  Some of the newer model computers have DVD writers.  Please use DVD-R (Not DVD+R) media with your computer.  Select a brand of DVD or CD that you trust and always check your media to verify that everything was burned correctly.  Terason is NOT responsible for lost or corrupted data.

When I open the Terason application it displays a different model probe and displays “Terason - Simulated Probe Data” in the upper-left corner of the screen.
This occurs when the computer does not recognize the probe.  This can be caused by a variety of reasons.  Please try the following:

  1. Unplug all the probe connections, plug them back in, and restart the computer.
  2. After plugging the probe in wait at least 30 seconds before starting up the Terason application.
  3. If, when the probe was first plugged in, a message came up stating “New Hardware Found” please call Terason for driver installation instructions.

My laptop battery will not charge.
Please make sure that the AC outlet that you are plugging the laptop into has power.  If the laptop came with a Transformer or power strip please check to make sure it is in the “ON” position.

If it still fails to charge please take the battery out of the system for 24-48 hours while running the system in the meantime.  If, after putting the battery back in, it still will not charge, please call Terason Techsupport for assistance.

My computer is running slower then it used to.  How can I speed it up?
There are many reasons a computer will slow down.  Please try the following:

  1. If you have loaded other applications onto the computer (i.e. Microsoft Office, Quicken,...) refer to their respective manuals on how to disable them from starting when windows starts.  Close down all other programs when running Terason.
  2. Check your power options.  Click START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL.  Open up POWER OPTIONS.  Verify that the power scheme is set to “Always On”.  Click on the “Hibernate” tab and make sure the “Enable Hibernation” is NOT checked.*Windows 2000 users check to make sure that the options in the “Performance Settings” tab are set to “Maximum Performance”.
  3. If the computer is connected to a network or the Internet it could be susceptible to computer viruses.  It is recommend that an anti virus program be installed and updated.

When I install the new version of Terason will it overwrite my patient files?
No, it leaves the patient directories intact.  The new version will read them the first time it is launched.  Uninstalling the Terason application does not remove your patient files either.

How do I uninstall the Terason application?

  1. Please go to START à SETTINGS à CONTROL PANEL.
  2. From the control panel window select “Add or Remove Programs”.
  3. Select “Terason Software” then click the CHANGE / REMOVE button.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete your uninstall of the Terason software.

Where do I find the probe driver?
The probe driver is copied into the following directory when the application is installed:
C:\Program Files\Teratech\Terason 2000\Drivers

How do I save pictures in other formats so they can be viewed on systems without Terason installed?
Open the picture that you would like to view in the Terason application.  Select FILE à SAVE IMAGE AS.  Choose a format that is readable on the other computer e.g. JPEG.  The new image will be saved in a folder with the current date.
